Weser Uplands

Gentle hills with meadows and forests, cosy timber frame towns, numerous Weser Renaissance castles and fortresses, famous fairytale figures and of course the gentle flowing Weser – this is what makes the Weser Uplands so unique.

The region is perfect for an active holiday, because the Weser cycle way goes straight through the heart of the Weser Uplands. It is one of the most popular German cycling routes leading you from the source point of the Weser in Hannoversch’ Münden right to the estuary of the North Sea. The Weser Uplands part of the cycling route is so attractive because there are so many sights along the way. Impressive fortresses, magnificent castles and historical towns with fairytale figures – such as Hameln and its Pied Piper or Baron Münchhausen of Bodenwerder – are lining the shores of the Weser inviting you to rest or trips.

Looking for a good hike? The Weserbergland-Weg (Weser Uplands route) stretches 225 km from Hann. Münden to Porta Westfalica along the Weser Uplands and offers a special challenge for hikers. The route leads you through living high moors, ancient forests and valley onto hills with incredible views. The Weser Uplands route is a certified quality route (by the hiking association). Another hiking experience in the Weser Uplands is the Ith-Hills route. This route is an 80 km long circular route in the Eastern Weser Uplands and also awarded with the quality seal “Wanderbares Deutschland”.

Sports and relaxation go hand in hand. Numerous thermal baths and wellness oases invite you to regain your energy and enjoy. Furthermore, many historical towns and Weser Renaissance castles lure tourists into the beautiful Weser Uplands region.
